West Columbia Police Department Assistant Chief Scott Morrison was elected the 2nd Vice President for the SC Chapter of the FBI National Academy Associates Board this month.

He was a graduate of the 251st Session of the FBI National Academy in 2012.

Chief Dennis Tyndall said, “Having a representative from our department serve on this board of prestigious law enforcement professionals goes to speak to the quality of officers that we have as members of our team. Assistant Chief Morrison is an asset to the department and we are proud of his accomplishments.”

Assistant Chief Morrison began his career at the WCPD, in 1995, as a Patrol Officer/Jailer and worked his way up through the ranks to Assistant Chief in 2016.

He is a graduate of the University of South Carolina, FBI National Academy, and South Carolina Law Enforcement Officers Association Commander School.

The FBI National Academy is a professional course of study for US and international law enforcement managers nominated by their agency heads because of demonstrated leadership qualities.

The 10-week program — which provides coursework in intelligence theory, terrorism and terrorist mindsets, management science, law, behavioral science, law enforcement communication, and forensic science — serves to improve the administration of justice in police departments and agencies at home and abroad and to raise law enforcement standards, knowledge, and cooperation worldwide.
