Barnhams celebrate 20th anniversary

Congratulations to Pastor Jerry Bran-ham and his wife Linda who recently celebrated 50 years of marriage! Pastor Branham serves as chaplain for the Pelion Ruritan Club and the Pelion Police Department.

Pull out your favorite peanut recipes and enter the 37th annual Peanut Bake-Off. There is a $10 fee to enter the contest and all entries must be registered by November 2 at 9 a.m. The baked goods need to be dropped off between 6 p.m. and 9 p.m. November 2. Judging begins at 8 a.m. November 3. Recipes must be submitted with entry. Register by contacting Sarah Mills at saraheb.mills@gmail.com. There are three categories and each category requires an entry form. Categories are Pies and Cakes, Cookies, Muffins and Breads.

A reminder that parade entries must be returned by October 26. For information, contact at ssprenne@lex.lib.sc.us or 803-785-3272. Entries for the Car and Bike Show must be received by November 1. Contact dfmills61@gmail.com or 803-360-0572 for. Just a reminder that no golf carts or doggies are allowed at the festival.

Pelion Library will

host Technology training October 24 at 10:30 a.m. for ages 18 and up. Registration is required. Preschool storytime is October 24 at 11 a.m. for ages 2-5 years. Master Gardeners will meet October 20 at 10 a.m. to learn about Shade Gardening. The event is for ages 18 and up and registration is required. Tween Reel Time is October 25 at 6 p.m. for grades 4-7. There will be a movie and plenty of Halloween classics and snacks.

Pelion varsity football plays Strom Thurmond October 19 at 7:30 p.m. JV football plays Gilbert October 25 at 6 p.m.

All Pro Dads meets at Forts Pond Elementary October 19 at 7 a.m. in the Learning Commons. The PTO Fall Carnival is the same day, 6:30-8 p.m. Wear Blue on October 22 for Bullyinig Prevention Month.

Mrs. Cribb, Forts Pond Elementary School 4th grade teacher, thanks The Urban Garden for donating two large indoor/outdoor garden containers and growing mediums/fertilizer for the garden. The students will use these gardens to compare growing conditions and their impact plant growth.

Pelion Senior Center’s operation shoe box will end October 23. Thank you to all who participated.
