Blowfish look to continue winning ways on homestand

Posted

Week 2 of the Lexington County Blowfish season saw quite a bit of rain and 2 losses on the road. Rain forced the cancellation of 3 of the scheduled six games. Lexington County dropped 2 games in Macon by scores of 9-7 and 6-3.

This past Saturday, the Blowfish returned to their winning ways dispatching the Bomb Island Bombers at home by a score of 14-1.

This past Monday, the Blowfish dispatched the Savannah Bananas at Historic Grayson Stadium by a score of 12-8.

Brett Kerry of the University of South Carolina shined in the start, earning the win with 5 shutout innings pitched and seven strikeouts. Lexington County’s offense shined as 7 different batters tallied at least 1 RBI.

As week 3 gets underway in the 2020 season, Lexington County has a 4-game homestand that started Wednesday against the Lake Murray Purple Martins. A split-squad Thursday will send a portion of the team to Macon, while the rest of the squad will be at home to face the Bomb Island Bombers.

Week 3 wraps up over the weekend with 2 more tilts with the Purple Martins and Bombers, followed by a Sunday trip to Grayson Stadium to take on Savannah.

The Blowfish were 5-3 overall and 2-3 in the Coastal Plain League Southern Summerball Classic entering Wednesday. The team is on track to set offensive records in 2020, already tallying 14 home runs and 74 runs scored as the team is 4-1 at home.
