A body matching Elena Katherine Moore's clothing description was found, Lexington Police said at a press conference just before 6:30 p.m. today.
The coroner has not yet positively identified the body found, according to police.
Law enforcement began searching the area of North Lake Drive and Old Cherokee Road after receiving a tip that Moore was last seen in the area on June 11 between 4 p.m. and 6 p.m.
According to Lexington Police Department Chief Terrence Green, personnel began investigating the area around 1:30 p.m. today.
Around 2:48 p.m. today, they found a body fitting Moore’s clothing description.
The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division is investigating the death.
Green said he was unable to comment on whether foul play is suspected at this time.
Moore’s vehicle was always with her husband, Green said.
Her husband reported her missing on Friday, June 12.
The investigation remains active and ongoing.
