As of this writing, the Pelion Ruritan plans to hold the popular annual Pelion Ruritan Memorial Day Service. No chairs will be furnished so it will be a social distancing and bring your own lawn chairs. The program will begin at 10 am for 30-40 minutes. More information will come later. Please mark the date on your calendar and plan to attend this meaningful service.

The Pelion Branch Library will have no in-library programs until after August. They are offering virtual story time, Master Gardeners and adult tech/workforce/resume/ health information. Details on the Summer Reading Program are coming.

The Pelion Senior Center remains closed but Meals On Wheels is still active thanks to Sweet Magnolias for assisting.

Pelion Schools will remain closed for the rest of the school year. On May 4, parents of elementary students may drive to Pelion Elementary and Forts Pond Elementary schools and pick up the final instructional packet and a bag with their child’s personal belongings. The Elementary principals will let parents know the pick-up times.

May 15 is the last day for Senior’s to complete their work. May 22 is the last day of distance and e-learning for students in Pre-K - grade 11. It is also the last day for exams in Advanced Placement courses.

May 26-29 is the last week of school. The schools will let students know about returning instructional materials. Schools will mail report cards on June 5.

Happy birthday to Carlton Herndon and Joe Craft.
