There are still plenty of things to enjoy before summer ends.

You family might like a trip to Riverbanks Zoo, You can see the African lion female cubs Amara, Asha and Zari when they make their official debut this month. There are also a baby giraffe and a gorilla. Our zoo is one of the top 10 in the country and very accessible.

Or, you can try a purple martin dinner cruise on Lake Murray. It’s fun to watch more than a million purple martins return each evening to roost on Bomb Island.

Or, get out of the heat with a performance at Village Square Theatre in Lexington. Disney’s Little Mermaid Jr. is showing through July 29.

Based on one of Hans Christian Anderson’s most beloved stories, the Little Mermaid is an enchanting look at the sacrifices we all make for love and acceptance. Call 359-1436 for information.

Check out the Blowfish baseball schedule. Coming up are all-you-can-eat night, Fort Jackson night, and First Responder night on July 28. Then Dog Day is July 31.

The Blowfish office is at 101 E. Main St., Lexington. Call 803-254-3474 or email info@blowfishbaseball.com.

Maybe you have taken a summer trip you would like to tell us about.

According to reports, Rose and Bob Wingard took a 30-day trip driving to Anchorage, Alaska. They picked up an RV in Indiana and saw the sights in the northern U.S. before flying back.

They saw Old Faithful and Yellowstone Park. Traveling the Ice-fields Highway, they marveled at the majestic Canadian Rockies.

They eventually stopped by the North Pole, but Santa wasn’t in his office on Tuesdays!

Finally they arrived in Anchorage after walking on Ruth Glacier. They report they enjoyed every minute of the trip.
