Businessman leads new school

Posted

Dr. Scott Adams of Lexington is the new dean of South Carolina’s newest business school.

He will lead Columbia International University’s new School of Business and Professional Studies.

Adams has nearly 3 decades of experience in law and business management for major corporations including Dow Corning, Prysmian Group and most recently with TrioIP Group in Lexington.

Adams earned a Doctor of Jurisprudence degree from Brooklyn Law School in New York City and a bachelor’s degree in Public Administration and Allied Legal Services from University of Central Florida in Orlando where he grew up.

Adams has served in key leadership positions with several civic organizations. He has also been honored as an “Ambassador for Economic Development” by former Gov. Nikki Haley.

“The number of new students enrolling is more than double the students majoring in business this time last year,” Adams said.

“Banks have been quite interested in our programs given that they have a high incidence of fraud and attrition and are looking for workers with Christian character, morals and ethics.”

Scott and his wife Kathy live in Lexington.
