Busy days ahead at council, library

Pelion Library hosts Around pelion

Areminder that town council meets on January 9 at 5:30 for a work session and 6 pm for the meeting. Town residents are encouraged to attend.

Technology training January 15 at 10:30 am. Remember, registration is required. Preschool story time is January 15 at 11 am for ages birth to 5 years. Yarn Art will be January 11 at 10 am for all ages. This event is for beginner and advanced crafters to share ideas and learn new skills. Spine Crackers book club meets January 15 at 3 pm. The club reads a variety of books and encourages lively discussion in a friendly, casual atmosphere.

Soup Swap is January 16 at 6 pm for ages 18 and up. Participants are asked to bring 7 quarts of their favorite homemade soup. Six quarts should be refrigerated and one will be served warm as a taster. This event requires registration as space is limited and spots fill quickly. To register call 803-785-3272.

Pelion High varsity

basketball will play Airport January 10 at 6 pm. Varsity wrestling will be at Brookland Cayce January 14 at 6 pm. JV basketball plays Edisto January 15 at 6 pm. JV and V basketball play Orangeburg Prep January 16 at 4 pm.

There will be an Academic pep rally January 17 at 11:05 am.

Martin Luther King Jr., the civil rights leader, botn 90 years ago, is honored this month. He won the Nobel Peace Prize in 1964 and was the youngest person to do so at that time at age 35. Malala Yousafzai now holds the record, winning the 2014 prize at age 17.
