Buy a brick for war memorial

The Pelion Ruritan Club will place 12 new bricks at the Memorial in late April. If you would like to purchase a brick, please contact any Ruritan member or email me at the address above. Bricks are placed once a year in time for each year’s memorial service.

Join Convent Baptist Church on Easter Sunday for sunrise service at 7 am; breakfast at 8 am; Sunday school at 9:15 am and the Easter Cantata and drama at 10:30 am. This program will be different because it was written by a member and not a program off the shelf. Everyone is invited.

Share an Easter journey with The Rescue Church April 21 at 11 am. Discover how to survive the long and winding road we call life. The Rescue meets at the Pelion High School Auditorium. Its web site is therescuepelion.org.

Pelion Elementary will honor volunteers with a breakfast April 11. Field Day for students is April 12. Spring break is April 15 through April 19. Blowie the Blowfish, the mascot for the Lexington County Blowfish baseball team will be at Pelion Elementary April 22 to help promote reading and literacy.

Congratulations to Jeffrey and Kasci Padgett on the birth of their son, Cason, at 9 lbs. 10 ozs.

Happy Birthday to Brandy Babbel.

Happy Anniversary to George and Linda Sanders.

Pelion Library hosts technology training April

17 at 11 am. Registration is required. Preschool Story time is April 17 at 11 for ages 2-5 years. Books and Beyond will create terrariums on April 16 at 3:30 pm for grades K-5. Participants will learn the basics of gardening under glass, including which plants work best. Spine Crackers Book Club meets April 17 at 3 pm with author C. Hope Clark. She is the author of the Edisto series and the Carolina Slade Mysteries. This month the club is discussing “The President is Missing” by Bill Clinton and James Patterson. Tween Extreme meets April 18 at 6 pm to learn Arm Knitting. This event teaches kids to knit without using needles; arms are used for the needles and blankets, scarves, sweaters, hats and more can be created. This event is for grades 4-7.

Don’t forget the poetry contest entry forms are in the library April 15 at 5 p.m.

Pelion High games for April 11 include varsity baseball at Gilbert and Varsity girls soccer at Lower Richland, both at 5 p.m. April 12, JV/V softball is at Gilbert and track at Spring Valley, both at at 4 pm.
