Voting is over to determine Lexington County’s Male and Female Athletes of the year, and this year’s recipients are Northside Christian’s Cade McNeill and American Leadership Academy’s Breana Borges.

Over 1,000 votes were cast and 48 athletes were considered. Those 48 were whittled down to 12, and in the end, the voters decided these two athletes stood out amongst the rest.

Read below to learn more about McNeill and Borges.

Cade McNeill

Northside Christian’s Cade McNeill just finished his senior season and was voted Lexington County’s Male Athlete of the Year for the second year in a row.

During his time at Northside, McNeill played basketball, baseball and ran cross country. He excelled in all three sports and achieved multiple accolades.

This past season McNeill earned All-State for cross country and has previous All-Region honors in basketball. He helped the baseball and basketball teams win region championships and qualify for the playoffs multiple times in his career.

He averaged 11 points on the basketball court and hit 0.333 from the plate on the baseball field in 2025.

Next year, McNeill is set to attend Truett McConnell University and run cross country, play basketball and run track.

Breana Borges

American Leadership’s Breana Borges was chosen as Lexington County’s Female Athlete of the Year.

The rising senior was a star on the Patriots’ softball team, hitting 0.425 with 31 hits, 23 runs and nine RBIs. She helped guide the team through their first varsity softball season.

Borges also made plays in the field, switching between the outfield and infield. She also had a couple of appearances on the mound, pitching for the Patriots.

As a rising senior, Borges can return to the field for the Patriots next year to help the team improve and establish a strong foundation for the program.
