Local entrepreneurs are invited to improve their networking skills this month.

Columbia Metropolitan Airport, in partnership with the South Carolina Airports Coalition, will co-host the 2018 Small Business Fly-In. DBEs, women-owned businesses, veteran-owned businesses and small local business enterprises are invited.

The Fly-In will provide opportunities for entrepreneurs and business owners to network with airport leaders and learn about bid opportunities.

The free event will be Thursday, October 25 from 4 - 7 p.m. at The Landing by RJ, 1832 Airport Boulevard, Cayce. Space is limited. To register, please go to https://scflyin.eventbrite.com .

In 2016, the Columbia Metropolitan Airport (CAE), Charleston International Airport (CHS), Greenville-Spartanburg International Airport (GSP), and Myrtle Beach International Airport (MYR) formed an alliance to help build relationships and promote business opportunities for small, minority, women and veteran-owned businesses.

For more information about the event, contact Courtney Young at 803-261-4180 or cyoung@thinkfsc.com .

Midlands Gives campaign

The philanthropy clock has started.

Central Carolina Community Foundation has opened nonprofit registration for Midlands Gives, the annual online giving challenge.

Midlands Gives has raised more than $7.25 million for local nonprofits since 2014.

In 2018, the fifth anniversary of Midlands Gives raised more than $1.75 million for 372 organizations via 14,665 individual donations, exceeding all prior year records.

This year, giving day will run on an 18-hour schedule, from 6 a.m. - midnight. This will allow the Community Foundation to focus efforts into a shorter, more efficient time period than the former 24-hour schedule.

Nonprofits can register for Midlands Gives until January 15 at http://www.MidlandsGives.org .
