Who’s new

When Dukes Scott retired early at the Office of Regulatory Staff, the line waiting for his job wasn’t long. Dukes and his staff are the over-worked public servants who have to review rate hike requests from Carolina Water and SC Electric & Gas. They advise the Public Service Commission how little to give them and the PSC gives utilities what they want. Now that Dukes has retired, Nanette Edwards, a 12-year veteran, has been appointed as the agency’s second executive director. Edwards has been with the ORS since 2005, serving as an attorney before becoming deputy executive director. In addition, Dawn Hipp has been promoted to chief operating officer and Jeff Nelson chief legal officer.

Lexpo 2018 Breaks Records

River Bluff High School was packed with over 100 businesses for the 2018 Business Lexpo. It was the largest trade show to date hosted by the Greater Lexington Chamber and Visitors Center. With help from sponsors and companies the high school hallways became a pop-up mall with booth space for each business. The Haven Coffee House provided fresh coffee during the vendor networking hour. This gave each business time to see what other businesses were offering before doors opened to the public. “This truly felt like a community,” said Lucia Ellison, owner of Paul Davis Restoration & Remodeling. “It was interesting to see how many business connections we have.” Fully Promoted’s Laura Sullivan says new business from the expo exceeded her investment. “It was energizing to connect with so many other businesses and residents,” she said. “Building awareness of your brand through events like this really must be part of your marketing strategy.” If you need another networking opportunity, the 2018 Fall Golf Classic on Sept, 27 at Golden Hill Golf & Country Club should be on your calendar. Call the chamber at 803-359-6113 or visit http://www.lexingtonsc.org/ for details.
