Cayce doctor faces charges, wants to practice

Dr. Adam Lazzarini faces problems.

The Lexington Medical Center hip surgeon is caring for his 5-year-old daughter while dealing with his wife’s death and charges against him.

“It’s a full plate to fall in anyone’s lap,” said his attorney Eric Bland.

Lazzarini wants to go back to practicing medicine but he is charged with involuntary manslaughter after William Player Holland died of a gunshot wound at Lazzarini’s Cayce home Oct. 9.

May 1, EMS personnel were called to Lazzarini’s home and found his wife, Vanessa Biery, unresponsive.

She later died.

Results of an autopsy have not been released.

The S.C. Board of Medical Examiners has lifted its suspension of his medical license, said his attorney.

“He is not a threat to his patients, staff or the public. “He has a clean record and he is well-regarded.”

Bland said Lazzarini is needed in LMC’s sports orthopedics department. But as of Monday, Lazzarini was still on leave from Lexington Medical Center.
