Cayce lifts building ban

Posted

Cayce has lifted a temporary ban on building large single family and multi-family homes.

The moratorium had raised builders’ and develoers’ concerns.

City leaders asked for a study on accommodating a growing population.

The study assured city council that continuing the moratorium was unneeded.

The city has already approved zoning and regulatory ordinances suggested in the Cayce Housing Study.

The approved changes will ensure the city can meet current and future housing demands while maintaining the character of existing neighborhoods.

As Mayor Elise Partin stated, the building ban only applied to large subdivision and apartment complexes.

It would not affect commercial development or individual home building.

Partin said Cayce has ove 14,000 residents, 700 businesses and an active and engaged Chamber of Commerce to help businesses prosper and to be a great place for residents.
