A minor in Cayce is accused of shooting and killing his grandfather and shooting at his grandmother.

Cayce Police report responding to a call of shots fired on Sunnyside Drive, which came in at about 3 p.m. March 10.

The accused shooter was apprehended and arrested. He is charged with murder, attempted murder and use of a weapon during a violent crime.

The Lexington County Coroner's Office has identified the slain grandfather as Raymond Lee Toler, 66, of Cayce.

"[He] was shot after a verbal altercation with his grandson," the office posted to social media March 12. "Mr. Toler was pronounced dead on scene due to a multiple gunshot wounds to the upper body. Mr. Toler's spouse was injured during the incident and transported to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries."

In a release, Cayce Police specify that the grandmother was not struck by gunfire.

“This investigation is ongoing," the release states. "No cause has been finalized as our officers continue to investigate. Given the age of the offender, the matter will be adjudicated through the Family Court system and the South Carolina Department of Juvenile Justice. No further information will be released in the juvenile case at this time.”

Cayce police request that anyone with additional information call Crime-Stoppers at (888) CRIME-SC or the Cayce Police Department at (803) 794-0456.
