Cayce to get $1 million for visitor’s center

A new a visitor’s center is being planned at Cayce.

Mike Dawson, CEO of the River Alliance, spoke at the Greater Cayce-West Columbia Chamber of Commerce Breakfast in March. He said a plan for a visitors center in Cayce was being developed, near the Cayce Tennis Center and Timmerman Trial on the 12th Street Extension. It is being planned to be accessible from I-77 and highlight Cayce’s 12,000 Year History Park.

Cayce will receive $1 million in state funding for the visitor’s center, according to a report, quoting Dawson, in the (Charleston, SC) Post and Courier.

In March, Dawson spoke about a visitor’s center that would orient visitors with Cayce’s 12,000 year History Park. The park contains sites from the Civil War and the Revolutionary War.

Dawson said a visitor’s center would provide a space to host educational programs for children and adults. The park will be linked to the Three Rivers Greenway. Funds will have to be raised for that project to be completed.
