Celebrate Holy Week

This is Holy Week and many will flock to churches and synagogues for Resurrection day celebrations and Passover Seders. I will attend both a Passover Seder and celebrate Jesus’ resurrection on Sunday.  Jesus, the Passover lamb, was crucified on Passover and He rose 3 days later.  Thank you, Lord Jesus!  

Egg hunting by flashlight will be at Saluda Shoals Park April 12, 7-8 pm, on the soccer fields. Preregister at 803-772-3336.

Saluda Shoals is also excited about the pair of Red-Hawks which are incubating eggs! Go by the Environmental Education Center and learn about these beautiful birds.

M  y house is recovering from a yard sale. Every nook, cranny, cabinet, and corner was cleaned out. Now, it is post yard sale week, and house reorganization and clean up week! This may take a while.  The Great American Clean up for our roads, parks and green spaces is also underway through May

31. Gather your bored children and others and grab a bag and gloves and clean up the outdoors near you.  

The Chapin Ruritan Club is taking orders now for Vidalia onions to be delivered on May 16. A 10-pound bag is just $10; 25-pound bag $20; or 50-pound bag just $35. Get them fresh from the field. Call 345-1873, 345-5060 or contact any member of the Chapin Ruritan Club to place your orders. Proceeds fund the club’s community projects and scholarships.  

If you have a used bicycle in the Irmo and Chapin area, the Cola Town Bike Collective needs them! They are a 501c3 organization that empowers people by providing affordable transportation to those who may not have an alternative. They work with neighborhood kids, those who are transitioning, and the working poor. They work with other nonprofits and charitable organizations to provide bikes to those who need them.  

Chapin-based Screaming Eagles special needs athletics will scrimmage with the Columbia Fireflies April 20 at 4 pm to raise funds. Proceeds will benefit Screaming Eagles Athletics. For information, email Jenny Bowers at screamingeaglesathletics@gmail.com
