Celebrate New Year’s differently

New Year’s Eve is typically an event that calls for over-the-top parties and celebrations. Red Bank Baptist is ringing in the new year in a different way by hosting a Communion Service at 6 p.m. this Monday, New Year’s Eve. Contact the church at 359-2681 for more information.

Looking for somewhere local to celebrate New Year’s Eve without driving into Lexington or Columbia? The Loaded Patriot on Edmund Highway is hosting King Nothing and Cydetrax for an old-fashioned rock ‘n’ roll NYE party starting at 8:30 pm.

If you haven’t made a New Year’s resolution yet, how about one that says you’ll let me know about all the great things going on with you, your family, church, organization, school, and any other groups I need to know about? I can include information in this column and you’ll get some free publicity for your events and causes, your fund-raisers, concerts, benefit sales, and whatever else you might have happening in Red Bank. See the email address included here or text me the info at 546-8859. Birthdays and anniversaries are also welcome, I can add them to my list.

2018 has been a year of growth in Red Bank, which is both good and bad. Good, because we now have more options for groceries with Aldi and Publix opening. Bad, because all the new houses being built equate to more and more traffic—peak rush hour on Platt Springs and South Lake Drive is starting to look just like Harbison or downtown Lexington. Next week I’ll take a longer look at the past year, and offer some thoughts for the next one.

Happy Birthday this week to Carlisia Kyzer, Jamie Harmon, Chris Boney, John W. Sease, Ricky McMakin, Margaret Mintz, and Renee Ulmer.
