Chapin boys lacrosse team's playoff run comes to a halt in state semis

Posted

Chapin was the last local boys lacrosse team standing, but their run came to an end in the semifinal round.

The Eagles lost to No. 1-ranked Lucy Beckham 20-6, ending the team’s 2026 campaign.

Lucy Beckham’s offense was just too much for the Eagles to handle. Three Bengals players scored hat tricks in the win, including MJ Zinone, who had a game-high five goals.

The Bengals will play Fort Mill on Friday for the 5A Division II title.

Chapin ends its season (14-4). The Eagles captured their second straight region title after going (6-0) against conference foes.

In the playoffs, Chapin got off to a good start, beating St. James 15-5 in the second round. The Eagles earned a first-round bye for winning the region.

Four Eagles players scored a game-high three goals. Garet Holland, Dawson Williams, Ethan Sadler and Malachi Merkovsky combined for 12 goals. Eddie Wright scored two more and had a game-high three assists.
