Thousands of people flocked to downtown Chapin to celebrate the unofficial end of summer with a Labor Day parade on Monday, Sept. 7, capping off the three-day Chapin Labor Day Weekend Celebration.
Festivities began Saturday, Sept. 5, with the Fidelis Family Retreat 5K Run, Walk, Roll or Stroll at Chapin High School. On Sunday, Sept. 6, Chapin played host to the Boots on Beaufort concert featuring the Marty McCord Band and 8 Track Country.
In addition to the parade, Monday’s schedule included a car show and vendor fair.
“This year’s celebration is especially meaningful as we commemorate 250 years of American history and honor those who have served our communities and our country,” Mayor Bill Mitchell said in a statement announcing this year’s event. “The Chapin Labor Day festival is a cherished tradition that brings neighbors together, celebrates our hometown pride and showcases everything that makes Chapin special.”
