Varsity Brands has named Chapin High School’s student government America’s Best Student Government.

They made the announcement during the 2019 Varsity Brands Awards show Saturday, May 11 at the Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, FL.

Varsity Brands created the national Spirit Awards 4 years ago to celebrate schools, individuals and organizations who work to increase school pride and spirit.

Chapin High School Student Government was selected as one of the six 2019 finalists nationwide in February, recognizing their efforts to bring students together, enhance school pride and elevate the overall student experience.

“This recognition is a tribute to the hard work of current and former students who dreamed of creating the ultimate ‘spirit experience’ at Chapin High School,” said Billie Williams, Chapin High School Student Government sponsor.

“This year we have a 54-member council who are enrolled in the Student Government Leadership courses. This group of individuals have truly worked to provide an environment which promotes school pride and spirit throughout the halls of Chapin High School.”

Chapin’s High’s Student Government will receive a $3,000 prize which will be used in planning school spirit events in the fall.

“We are incredibly proud of our student government for being named the best student government in the nation,” said Chapin High principal Michael Ames.

“It is wonderful that the hard work and tireless effort by Ms. Williams, Mr. Mize and their students have been recognized. It is a well-deserved honor, as the tradition of excellence continues at Chapin High School.”
