A Chapin resident was arrested recently for sexual exploitation of a minor.
Robert Earl Wessinger Jr.,60, was arrested Jan. 11 and is charged with three counts of second degree sexual exploitation of a minor, which is a felony offense punishable by up to 10 years imprisonment on each charge, according to a release from the Attorney General’s Office.
“Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force investigators with the Lexington County Sheriff's Department made the arrest. Investigators with the Attorney General's Office, also a member of the state's ICAC Task Force, assisted with the investigation,” the release states.
According to the release, investigators received a CyberTipline report from the National Center for Missing Exploited Children, which led them to Wessinger.
The release states that the case will be prosecuted by the Attorney General's Office.
