A Chapin man has been arrested by Lexington County narcotics agents after drugs were found inside his home.
Tarik Shiggs, 41, was arrested Dec. 20 and is charged with “trafficking methamphetamine, trafficking fentanyl, possession with intent to distribute marijuana, manufacturing crack, possession of a weapon during a violent crime and possession of a weapon by a person convicted of trafficking a controlled substance,” according to a press release.
“Lexington County narcotics agents executed a search warrant at a home in the 200 block of Eagle Pointe Drive in Chapin after receiving information about narcotics inside the home,” Lexington County Sheriff Jay Koon is quoted. “As agents were approaching the home, Shiggs ran out the back door and threw a backpack over the fence that contained two pistols and a large amount of drugs.”
The release states that the agents seized eight points of meth, 15.5 pounds of pills that were “ tested as meth, more than an ounce of fentanyl, marijuana, crack, crack manufacturing equipment, three guns and two drones” from Shiggs’ home.
Shiggs was taken to the Lexington County Detention Center following his arrest and was subsequently released, having received a $100,000 cash surety bond.
This is a developing story and will continue to be updated.
