After two rain delays, one which forced a rescheduled date, Chapin/Newberry and Lexington finally completed their rematch Wednesday at Newberry College.
Post 193/24 came away with the 2-1 victory over Post 7. The win dropped Lexington (5-5, 4-2) a half game behind Richland Post 215 in League Four standings with a doubleheader Thursday versus West Columbia at Brookland-Cayce High School.
Chapin/Newberry (7-4-1, 4-3) has to complete a game against Richland.
Zach Cowart put Lexington ahead 1-0 with an RBI single in the top of the first inning. Blake Martin, who went 3-3, tied the game in the bottom of the second with a RBI single.
After leading off the fifth inning with a single, Martin stole second, advanced to third on an error and scored on Gray Wells’ fielder’s choice.
Clark Hubbard struck out eight in 6 ⅔ innings for the victory.
