As the United States celebrates its 250th anniversary, the town of Chapin invites residents and visitors to join the 2026 Labor Day Weekend Celebration scheduled Saturday, Sept. 5 through Monday, Sept. 7 in downtown Chapin.

This year's theme, "Stars, Stripes & Service: Celebrating 250 Years," honors the nation's semiquincentennial and “recognizes the service, sacrifice and community spirit that have helped shape Chapin and communities across America for generations,” the town explains in a news release.

“This year’s celebration is especially meaningful as we commemorate 250 years of American history and honor those who have served our communities and our country,” said Mayor Bill Mitchell. “The Chapin Labor Day Festival is a cherished tradition that brings neighbors together, celebrates our hometown pride and showcases everything that makes Chapin special.”

Billed as “one of South Carolina’s most anticipated Labor Day traditions,” Chapin’s celebration brings together thousands of residents and visitors for a weekend filled with family-friendly activities, live entertainment, food and patriotic festivities.

The weekend kicks off on Saturday, Sept. 5, with the Fidelis Family Retreat 5K Run, Walk, Roll or Stroll at Chapin High School. The race starts at 8 a.m. Advance registration is available online for $40; same-day registration is $50. Learn more and sign up online at www.fidelisfamilyretreat.org/fidelis-family-events.htm#5K.

On Sunday, Sept. 6, the Boots on Beaufort concert will bring live music and excitement to downtown Chapin, featuring the Marty McCord Band from 6-7:30 p.m. and 8 Track Country from 8-11.

The celebration culminates on Monday, Sept. 7, with the community’s Labor Day Parade, followed by a full day of family activities, music, vendors, food, shopping, a classic car show and more throughout downtown.

The 2026 parade will showcase the patriotic theme, welcoming creative entries from businesses, civic groups, churches, schools, nonprofits and community organizations.

“Participants are encouraged to highlight America’s rich history, local heroes and the spirit of service that strengthens communities across the nation,” the news release says.

The town of Chapin will livestream the Labor Day Parade on its Facebook page. Viewers can enjoy special parade coverage hosted by WIS News anchor Greg Adaline and the town of Chapin’s own Kate Hiers.

“The Labor Day Weekend Celebration also supports local businesses, attracts visitors from across the region and highlights the unique character of downtown Chapin,” the release says.

“The town of Chapin encourages the public to make plans now to attend this signature community event and help make the 2026 celebration one of the most memorable in the festival’s history,” organizers added.
