The high school sports year officially ended Wednesday in a high-scoring blaze of glory at Lexington High School.

It was the final day of the South Carolina Baseball Coaches Association’s All-Star Games. All three games saw the six teams combine for 46 runs.

The morning started with the consolation game won 9-3 by the South team of Classes 5A/3A/A. Chapin’s Matthew Lively earned South Most Valuable Player honors and Greenville’s Dylan Levy win it for the North team of Classes 3A/4A.

Game Two was a slugfest won 9-8 by the North team of Classes 5A/3A/A. Chesterfield’s Walker Sowell was the North MVP and Christian Stratis of Hilton Head the South MVP.

The final game was a second matchup between the North and South Select teams. A six-run second inning highlighted by a three-run homer by team MVP Calder Garris of Wando and an RBI single by Lexington’s Nathan Hall helped propel the South to a 7-0 lead.

After cutting the lead to 7-2 in the top of the fourth, the North answered with a six-run rally of its own to take the lead. Phillip Daniels of A.C. Daniel belted a three-run homer, followed by a game-tying two-run homer by Braedon Harrison of Dorman.

The North added an RBI double to take the lead, only for Lexington’s Nathan Hall to score off an infield single to tie the game in the bottom of the sixth.

With the bases loaded, Harrison came through with a two-run double to make it 10-8. Catawba Ridge’s Harrison Wilson added an RBI single, and Harrison retired the South in order for the win and MVP award.

The SCBCA also released its final Top 10 team rankings. Class 2A runner-up Gray Collegiate finished second, Brookland-Cayce and Gilbert were third and eighth, respectively. in Class 3A, Airport finished fourth in Class 4A and three Chronicle County teams (Chapin, Lexington, and River Bluff) were ranked in the Top 10 of Class 5A.
