Christmas crafts on sale Sept. 29

It’s time for the annual Gilbert-Summit Senior Center craft fundraiser. For several months, the crafters have been making beautiful crafts to sell. We were able to get a sneak-peek at the items that will be for sale. There are many beautiful Christmas tree ornaments, wreaths, bird houses, Santa Clauses and gingerbread houses, nativity scenes, candle holders, Christmas goblets, and magnets.

The crafters have also made several Halloween items that would look good in your home. The craft sale will be held at the Gilbert-Summit Senior Center this Saturday, September 29, 8 a.m.- 1 p.m. This will benefit the Meals on Wheels program that provides daily meals to seniors in the community. The center is at 409 Broad Street. For information, call 892-5745.

Gilbert High School held its homecoming last week. Congratulations to Caroline Waters, who was chosen as GHS 2018 Homecoming Queen. First runner up went to Jordan Abney, and second runner up went to Joselyn Gonzalez. Congratulations to Matt Hall, GHS football player, who was chosen as 2018 Homecoming King. First runner up was Jacob Burgess and Second runner up was Darrius Bell.

Shiloh United Methodist Church invites the community to its monthly “Lunch and Learn” seminar. Wood Pallet Gardening will be the topic October 9,  noon-1 p.m. Cost for the catered lunch is $10. Wood pallet gardening is the latest trend in gardening. This is an easy and time-saving approach to growing your own flowers and vegetables. The church is at 1000 Springhill Road, Gilbert. Pond Branch United Methodist Church invites the community to its annual Homecoming October 14. Guest speaker will be Pastor Matt Rucker. After the morning service, everyone is invited to stay for a covered dish dinner. The church at 1913 Pond Branch Road, Gilbert. For more information, call Liz Briggs at 657-5481.
