Christmas gift-giving advice from the jolly old gent

Mrs. Claus and I get the weather channel at the North Pole but that’s about all. We spend a lot of time reading. Mrs. Claus always looks forward to the Authors for Literacy book signing. She likes to pick up a few personally autographed books for the elves and the rest of our family. They make unique Christmas gifts. She likes to support the Turning Pages literacy tutors who teach people to read, write and other career enhancing skills. I’ll be busy, but she plans to stop by the Lexington Main Library on US 1 just east of downtown Lexington on Saturday, Dec. 1, for the annual book signing. Authors for Literacy, the Lexington County library system, Sign It Quick and the Lexington County Chronicle and Lake Murray Fish Wrapper team up to raise money for adult literacy tutoring. This year 16 local authors will autograph their books at the library from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 1. Authors including Pat McNeely, Ralph Jarrells, Maryjo Briggs-Austin, Ben Farley, Stephanie Suell, Johnny Bloodworth, Kathy Widener, Bill Kaliher, Ronnie Riccosola, Tony Colson, Linda Maguire, Scott Vaughan, Kelly Coyle, James McCallister, John Starno and Jerry Bellune will autograph their books for anyone on your Christmas gift list. The books, priced at $10 and $20, make unique Christmas gift. Mrs. Claus asked me to tell you she hopes to see you there.
