Christmas was busy in Gilbert

We hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas and enjoyed the day with families and friends.

Prior to Christmas our community was busy with many Christmas activities and parties which we wanted to share with you.

Hollow Creek Community Club members assembled fruit baskets at their December meeting for many homebound seniors in our community. Members met the second Thursday of December and enjoyed their Christmas party and a catered meal. Santa Claus also made a special trip from the North Pole to visit with the children who attended the party. HCCC members have elected their new 2019 officers. They are: Timmy Koon, president; Jimmy Lucas, vice president; Mary Ann Sease, secretary; Dale Swygert, treasurer; trustees O’Neal Sessions, Frank Whittle, and Phillip Lucas; and Dan Tinman, rental chairperson.

HCCC members who have birthdays in December were recognized. Happy Birthday to Gene Tinman, Pat Tinman, Amanda LeeVan, Sandra Woodard, Betty Sessions, and Timmy Koon. Harry and Sandra Woodard were recognized for their Dec. 27 anniversary.

HCCC members welcome visitors to their meetings, held the second Thursday of each month at 7 pm. The club house is at 2701 Priceville Road.

Cherokee Presbyterian Church men’s choir spread Christmas cheer prior to Christmas. The group sang Christmas carols throughout our community. The carolers were very welcome and many citizens enjoyed hearing their favorite carols acapella.

Scouts brought their favorite cookies to their annual Christmas party. The Scouts then enjoyed an array of cookies and hot chocolate. Santa Claus was their special guest and he delivered their Pinewood Derby car kits to each of the Scouts and their siblings. Pack 60 Scouts also brought Christmas gifts to give to their adopted families.

Holly W.I.R.E. (Women Involved with Rural Electrification) members with Mid-Carolina COOP enjoyed a fantastic Christmas party with other W.I.R.E. groups. All of the members met at the Lexington Medical Center auditorium for an evening of entertainment and dinner. Entertainment was provided by “Good and Proper.” The members enjoyed the fellowship and door prizes at their party.

First Baptist Church of Gilbert thanks the community for its support of Little Bethlehem. The first weekend was met with inclement weather but the turnout for the two weekend event was very good.

Birthday wishes this week to Andrena Corder, Terry Strickland, Elizabeth Swann, Craig Hallman, Ashlyn Hallman, Joyce Shirley, Estelle Davis, Sandra Clamp, Beth Magyar, Glenn Sease, Mitch Miller, T.J. Lundeen, Jennifer Cook, Sherri Miller, Laura Smith, Jamie Miller, Kayshen Taylor, Pam Hall, Bubba West, Candi Kyzer, Brooks Taylor, Eddie Taylor, Heather Miller, Justin Hafner.
