The City of Cayce will host a Martin Luther King Jr. Weekend Litter Cleanup on Saturday, Jan. 17, beginning at 10 a.m.

“Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. gave his life in pursuit of peace, equality, and love for our nation,” Councilman Byron Thomas said, encouraging the public to join the cleanup. “As we observe the weekend dedicated to his legacy, it is important that we serve one another in ways that positively benefit our community. Let us be eager to give our time in honor of a man who gave his life for others.”

The event will focus on beautifying neighborhoods throughout the city, according to a media release. Last year, volunteers collected 300 pounds of litter.

Volunteers should meet at Mt. Zion Church of Cayce, 1908 Wilkinson St., before heading to designated cleanup areas. Attendees are encouraged to wear comfortable clothing and bring gloves.
