Passenger traffic at Columbia Metropolitan Airport continues its growth trend.

In September, 84,799 passengers used the Columbia Metropolitan Airport. That’s an 8.82% increase over September 2017.

Delta Air Lines has increased its mainline jet service at CAE thus increasing the number of airline seats available between Columbia and its hub in Atlanta.

In June, American Airlines began mainline jet service with a 140-seat aircraft on its nonstop flights to the Dallas/Ft. Worth hub.

United Airlines recently increased airline seats available at CAE by adding flights to their Chicago and Washington Dulles hubs.

Air Wisconsin, a regional carrier operating as United Express, opened its newest flight crew base at Columbia on October 1.

Via Airlines recently announced nonstop service to Orlando, Florida beginning December 3. Tickets can be purchased now at www.flyviaair.com .

American, Delta, and United Airlines currently serve Columbia with 62 daily nonstop flights to 9 hub airports in 8 major cities.

Who’s new

Chad Hayes has been named Chief Executive Officer of All Medical, Inc.

Chad was previously the Director of Complex Rehab Technology for the company, and will continue to be active in that role.

Michael Burton has been named as the company’s Chief Operating Officer. Michael has an extensive background in orthotics, prosthetics, and home medical equipment. He has worked as a business consultant and project manager for the last 7 years.

All Medical recently relocated to 1074 Sunset Boulevard in West Columbia after being in its previous location since it was founded in 1992.

All Medical, Inc. is locally owned by Bill and Liliana Hayes.

60 new jobs in county

Nucor Building Systems, a leading manufacturer of custom, pre-engineered metal building systems, is growing its existing operations in Lexington County.

The company’s $7 million investment is projected to create around 60 new jobs.

To expand its Lexington County operations, located at 200 Whetstone Road in Swansea, S.C., the company will be adding 57,000 square feet to its existing facility.

• Chuck Salley, SIOR, Dave Mathews, SIOR and Thomas Beard of Colliers International represented Columbia Three Associates, LLC in the lease of 65,883 square feet of industrial space at 128 McQueen Street in West Columbia to Morrisette Paper, Inc.

• Chuck Salley, SIOR, Dave Mathews, SIOR and Thomas Beard represented the landlord, Magnus Development Partners, in the leasing of 170,000 square feet of warehouse space at Midway Logistics III to Garden State Lumber and 30,000 square feet to Scholastic Book Fairs.

Midway Logistics III is a 200,000-square-foot industrial building located at 810 Bistline Drive in the Lexington County Industrial Park in West Columbia.

Law enforcement

award

Congratulations to Chief William H. “Skip” Holbrook of City of Columbia Police Department. He received the Strom Thurmond Award for Excellence in Law Enforcement.

The United States Attorney’s Office’s Law Enforcement Coordinating Committee, along with the South Carolina Law Enforcement Officers’ Association and the Strom Thurmond Foundation, hosted the annual awards luncheon Oct. 25 at the Fort Jackson Officers’ Club.

Approximately 150 state, local, and federal law enforcement officials from across the state attended the awards luncheon.

$9,000 raised for cancer care

The Criscione Family Golf Tournament raised $9,000 for Cancer of Many Colors.

Founder Paulette Criscione said the money will go to help cancer patients’ families.

Aqua Award

Doug Giesler, a Lake Murray real estate agent with Lake Homes Realty, won an Aqua Award at the company’s national Agent Summit Oct. 16-19.

To win an Aqua Award, Lake Homes Realty agents must have closed a minimum at least $3.5 million in total transactions over the past year.

Giesler was also named a Lake Homes Realty Premier Agent, placing him among the brokerage’s top producers.

Tijuana Flats closes

Tex-Mex restaurant Tijuana Flats in Lexington has closed.

The 5318 Sunset Blvd. restaurant opened only a year ago.

A sign at the restaurant informed customers it had closed.

Investigator of the Year

Sadie Wannamaker was presented The Investigator of the Year award by the SC Association of Legal Investigators. The award was presented for her outstanding achievement and leadership in the profession. Wannamaker is currently seeking re-election on the Lexington School District 4 Board.
