Senate Majority Leader Shane Massey has been honored as 1 of 5 senators and 7 House members for protecting taxpayers.

The conservative watchdog Club for Growth said his actions and votes helped state taxpayers. Sen. Massey represents western Lexington County.

“Facing an increasing threat of legislation that limits economic opportunity,” the SC Club for Growth Foundation said it released its interim legislative scorecards for the 2019 legislative session. Legislators scoring an “A” received the sought-after “Taxpayer Hero” award while those scoring an “F” were branded a “Taxpayer Zero.”

Selling Santee Cooper, judicial selections and pork-barrel spending were among the votes scored by the conservative watchdog group.
