Controversial quarry opens

Posted

Approximately 200 people attended Vulcan Materials Company’s Open House at its Lexington Quarry Oct. 16.

The open house marked the grand opening of the aggregate producing facility, which will serve as a catalyst for creating and supporting jobs and economic opportunity in the area. Vulcan designed the quarry by incorporating community feedback and input from neighbors.

The facility meets or exceeds local, state and federal regulations and guidelines and incorporates comprehensive dust control measures and protects and preserves water resources and wells.
