River Bluff football tight end Stephen Collier was the Gators' leading receiver in their first-round playoff win over Mauldin.
The senior finished the contest with six catches for 140 yards and two touchdowns. His longest play of the game came on a 73-yard pass and catch. Collier also added 10 yards off punt returns.
Collier recorded his fifth game with at least five receptions and surpassed 100 receiving yards for the first time this season. It was also his first game with multiple touchdowns.
River Bluff will look to advance past the second round of the 5A Division II playoffs this Friday with a win on the road at Rock Hill. Another big game from Collier would help make that more likely to happen.
Lexington cross country star Kendra Miles helped Lexington advance to the 5A Division I state title meet after finishing with the fastest time in the girls odd race at qualifiers.
Miles finished first, recording a time of 18 minutes and 59 seconds, almost 13 full seconds ahead of her teammate and second-place finisher Elanorah Patangan.
The sophomore has a chance to finish first place at the title meet this week. Miles already took the top spot in the 5A Region 4 and Lexington County championships. She will face some tough competition, especially from the athletes who participated in the even race that she did not go against at qualifiers.
