September has been a busy month for the members of the Gilbert-Summit Senior Center. Director Donna Neel said the members have enjoyed many activities and day trips.

Members began September with entertainment by Rick Hammond, and ended the week with a day trip to the Aiken-Ma-kin Craft Show. September 10, members attended the Young at Heart at First Baptist Church of Lexington. They enjoyed lunch and a performance by Abishai.

Director Neel said members enjoyed attending the Greek Festival and touring the Greek Orthodox Church. Other activities the members have enjoyed are: a history of the Lake Murray Dam by J.R. Fennell, health seminars, games, and daily Seniorcise exercises. Director Neel invites seniors age 60 and above to join the GSSC. For information, call 892-5745.

Gilbert Primary School students have been collecting box tops for their school to receive supplies. Each month the class that collects the most box tops will receive popsicles and their teacher a gift. Congratulations to GPS second grade teacher Mrs. Day, whose class won the first box top contest. Her students enjoyed their popsicles very much.

Congratulations to Dylan Taylor and Cooleen Taylor on the birth of their son, Jensen Owen Taylor.
