The scores are in for the SC Department of Natural Resources Deer Scoring held held at Price’s Country Store.

Everyone had a great time meeting the employees at Price’s. Here are the state winners and their scoring points:

First place Mike Russell, Aiken County (144 6/8); second place William “Ronnie” Gambill, Barnwell County (144 4/8); and third place, Randy Hall, McCormick County (132 4/8). Lexington County winners are: first place, Charles O’Brien Sr. (132 4/8); second place, Bobby Price II, (123 4/8); and third place, Kevin Clamp, (118 3/8).

Hollow Creek Community Center members dressed in green for their St. Patrick’s Day meeting last week. The members were entertained by father and son team Jim and Blake Berkley. Members enjoyed a delicious meal prepared by Diane Jumper, Amanda LeeVan and Debbie Philbin. Members Jerry Griffin, Brandon Rice, Patty Gaylord, Susan Lucas and Larry Philbin celebrated March birthdays and Tim and Rebecca Koon and Larry and Deb Philbin celebrated March anniversaries. Members began planning for a fall barbecue fundraiser and other activities. The club meets the second Thursday of each month at 7 pm at 2701 Priceville Road in Gilbert.

A free recycling drop-off event will be held March 23, 9 am-1 pm at Batesburg-Leesville High School. Electronics, tires, paper to be shredded, and household hazardous waste will be accepted.

Students from Gilbert Middle School entered the National History Day Regional Competition at the State Museum. Congratulations to these winners: Grayson Linberry, Blaine Ricard, Savannah Shirley, Amanda Allen, Khara Cox, Esparanza Juarez, Sara Reed, Ellie Gunter, Kendall Floyd, Hunter Robertson, William Lahrman, Ian Dantzler, Connor Banchero, Marcus Cook, Edie-Raine Hardee, Hannah Sprouse, Daniel Augustin, Makynzi Sprague, Julia VanHorne, and Ellie Smith.

Congratulations to Alanna Ward, who won a $500 dollar Hampton Wildlife Fund scholarship in an archery tournament.

Gilbert Primary School students are raising money for improvements to their inner courtyard. The Imaginations “RUN Wild” fundraiser is March 22 with a fun run and obstacle course.

Basic Life Support of Gilbert SC will conduct a CPR and First Aid class on Saturday, March 30 from 9 am until 2 pm at Crossroads Baptist Church, 525 Main St. Cost is $40 per person. For information, call 803-600-3078.
