Deputy state treasurer graduates

Deputy State Treasurer Cynthia Dannels has graduated from Leadership South Carolina’s Class of 2020.

Dannels was elected by her classmates to serve on the organization’s Board of Trustees for a 2-year term.

Leadership South Carolina cultivates future leaders as the oldest and most respected statewide leadership program.

The organization provides gifted and highly motivated South Carolinians an opportunity to advance their leadership qualities while broadening their understanding of state issues.

A graduate of the University of South Carolina’s Moore School of Business, Dannels has worked in numerous roles for the South Carolina Department of Parks, Recreation and Tourism, the state Commerce Department and the South Carolina State Housing Finance and Development Authority before joining the State Treasurer’s Office in 2014.

She is also a 2005 graduate of the Certified Public Managers Program.

Dannels lives in Lexington with her husband and 2 children.
