Down 2.7% over last year

The Lexington County School District 1 Board of Trustees will hold a public hearing to present the 3rd reading of the district’s 2020–2021 General Fund operating budget and to gather public input.

The public meeting is Tuesday, June 23 at 7 pm in the Auditorium of Building One of Central Services, at 100 Tarrar Springs Road in Lexington.

Last year, fiscal year 2019–2020, the district budgeted operating revenues and expenditures of $295,123,749.

The district’s proposed General Fund operating budget for fiscal year 2020– 2021 is $287,079,334.

The $8,044,415 decrease includes:

• $7,122,595 in cuts to employee salaries and related costs (2.7% decrease)

• $921,820 in cuts for programs and services (2.5% decrease)

The district says the new budget does not include salary or step increases due to uncertainty of state funding.
