District 1 dedicates new middle school

School District 1 dedicated Beechwood Middle School last week.

The school, located at 1340 Highway 378 in Lexington, sits on 34.57 acres.

The 196,000-square-foot middle school is an International Baccalaureate Middle Years -Programme candidate school with a focus on computer science essentials in partnership with Code to the Future.

The school opened Tuesday, and houses more than 900 students in grades 6–8.

97 employees provide administrative, clerical, custodial, food service and instructional services.

BMS will be provide students with a teacher advocate to support them on their learning path and design units of study that develop perseverance, critical thinking and the ability to communicate and collaborate toward a common goal.
