District gets deal for White Knoll school

Posted

Lexington District 1 will buy 35 acres near White Knoll High for $350,000. That is about $10,000 an acre for the land. Real estate experts told the Chronicle that land in that area has been going for up to $60,000 an acre. The land sold by Linda Kay Mack and Jimmy R. Shumpert will be the site of a new White Knoll elementary school. The 35 acres (Lexington County TMS # 007600-02-046) includes access from South Lake Drive (SC 6) and Bluefield Road. The new elementary school was part of a $365 million, 5-year building plan voters approved last year.
