Dominion disputes SCE&G layoffs

the dominion deal

You specifically said in your story that Dominion said it expects “another” 600 [employees to leave]. I’m not quite sure if that’s an incremental 600 on top of the 600 touted by [Lane] Kollen and [Frank] Knapp that we have disputed or not. It’s irrelevant.

But do you dispute reporting: “Dominion has said it expects to let go another unneeded 600 Lexington County employees.”

We have never said that anywhere. If you can find where we did show me. Otherwise, you printed something false. That’s shoddy journalism in any corner of the world.

I was in journalism 8 years as an editorial writer at the Richmond Times-Dispatch in Richmond, Va. Had I written something as fact – see what’s in the quotes above – without backup, I would have been suspended, without pay. We took journalism seriously there. And I hope you do, too, at the Lexington [County] Chronicle.

The fact that it took you two full days to respond is bad enough. It’s worse that you have no backup and support for your statement and offer no retraction.

As I said, I look forward to seeing a correction. Soonest.

C. Ryan Frazier, Dominion Energy

PS. You can easily find what we’ve said on “severance” for any employees whose jobs have been eliminated. We have compensation protections until at least July 1, 2020, for non-executive employees. What that means is that an affected employee will get the greater of our normal severance program or being paid – at current compensation levels – until at least July 1, 2020.
