Early voting has begun for two Lexington County municipalities holding special elections to fill vacant council seats.
Voters may cast ballots from Monday, Feb. 2, through Friday, Feb. 13, at the Lexington County Voter Registration and Elections Office, located at 605 W. Main St., Suite C, in Lexington.
The Town of Batesburg-Leesville has three candidates vying for the seat, including Todd Antonovich, Terry H. Bradley and Chip Spradley, according to South Carolina Election Commission data.
The seat became vacant after David W. Bouknight, who represented District Two for two years, won the mayor’s race against Stephen “Steve” Cain in the 2025 election.
Tom Daugherty has filed to run for the District Four seat for the Town of Swansea.
The District 4 seat became open after Doris Simmons won the mayoral seat in the 2025 General Election. Simmons won 55.09% of the 167 votes cast in that election. Jerome D. Williams earned 44.91% of the votes cast.
Election Day for both races is on Tuesday, Feb. 17, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Find your polling place on the South Carolina Election Commission website.
