Election Is Done, Time to Peanut Party

Posted

On Nov. 2, Pelion residents elected unopposed Mayor Frank Shumpert and Council Member Larry Sossoman to another term. Chuck Ingle was also elected to council. Residents are urged to attend the town council meetings, which are held the second Tuesday of each month at 5:30 p.m. at the Pelion Police Department.

A reminder that the Pelion Peanut Party will be held Nov. 12 and 13. The parade will be Saturday at 11 a.m.. Plenty of food and entertainment, along with a car show and fireworks. Boiled peanuts will be sold by the Pelion Ruritan. Proceeds from these events assist the Pelion High students with scholarships each year.

The Pelion chapter of the Order of Eastern Star recently initiated new member Reuben Rabon.

Mark Dec. 11 on your calendar and plan to attend the Pelion Christmas Market with an array of vendors for food, crafts, treats, games and more. The Parade of Lights will begin when the sun goes down. More information on this event will be available later.

The Pelion Library will host Leaf Printing on Nov. 16 at 3:30 pm for students in grades 5K-5. This event will be held outside, and participants will read leafy stories and make leafy crafts.

Correction: Last week, I reported that a quilt of valor was awarded to Doug Jordan; the correct name is Doug Gordan, U.S. Navy Veteran.
