Book Release: Mar. 10, 3:00 pm at Richland Library, 1431 Assembly St, Columbia, SC 29201. Author and local Author and local historian Rachel Haynie started researching and writing a book several years ago about Isabel Sloan’s dancing school. After Rachel’s death in 2018, her friends collaborated to finish her last book: South Carolina dances with Isabel Whaley Sloan. Images from the book will be part of “Remembering Rachel Haynie and Isabel Sloan” presented by co-authors Pat McNeely and Dr. Gene Atkinson of Orangeburg. A Sloan-style receiption will follow.

Forgotten Children of Slavery Exhibit: Mar. 7-10 in the Harbison Theatre at the Midlands Technical College Lobby, 7300 College Street, Irmo, SC. This free exhibit, “Beloved: Legacy of Slavery”, is dedicated to the impact slavery had on African-American children. The exhibit is by local artist Mary Burkett. Time After Time Senior Prom: Mar. 8, 6:30-9 pm at 7582 Woodrow St, Irmo. Talk show host and journalist Leeza Gibbons will be in attendance of this fundraiser to celebrate all generations from students to seniors with food, music, and dancing.
