Friends of former Dutch Fork running back Michael “Gas” Gasparato are seeking the public’s help.
Back in January, the 36-year-old had a tumor for testicular cancer removed. His 6-week followup appointment showed no signs of cancer in his body.
After pushing a blocking sled, Gasparato had his back X-rayed for what he thought was an old back injury. Instead, it showed extreme subluxation in his back.
On Aug. 6, Gasparato was examined at the Lexington Medical Center where tumors and blood clots were found throughout his lungs, liver, back and ribs.
The friends of the Gasparato family have set up a gofundme page https://www.gofundme.com/michael-gasgasparato to help the family with medical bills.
They are also seeking connections to doctors with testicular cancer treatments.
“The cancer has put him on his back, but he is going to stand up and will use his experience to help others WIN the battle against cancers that have plagued his life,” the friends said.
