Fish Hatchery Road traffic circle work underway

Posted

The SC Department of Transportation is upgrading a traffic circle at Fish Hatchery and Busbee Roads in Lexington County.

Effective Sept. 10, this intersection went from “All Way” stop to a “Round-about” traffic pattern with yield control.

This is needed to remove the temporary pavement from the center of the circle and complete construction of the center-island and concrete truck apron, DOT officials said.

Once the center is completed, the final asphalt surface will be placed, and final pavement markings will be installed.

All construction is estimated to be completed by early fall.

This project is financed by the increased state gas tax.

The taxes go to DOT’s 10-year plan to rebuild SC roads and bridges after 30 years of deferred repairs due to lack of money, DOT said.

If you are driving through the work zone, be aware of equipment and crews working adjacent to traffic.

For additional information, please contact SCDOT’s Lexington “A” Construction office at (803) 796-9540.
