It was a mixed Saturday in terms of news for the Lexington County Blowfish.

Prior to the road game against Savannah, the announcement was made of five Blowfish players getting named to the Coastal Plain League West Division All-Star team. 

First baseman Brock Vradenburg, outfielder Crosby Jones of Dutch Fork High School and infielder Braylin Moss were named starters. Outfielder Ryan Ouzts and pitcher Carson Starnes were selected as reserves for the July 10 game to take place in Holly Springs, N.C. 

Lexington County’s evening ended with another lopsided loss at its “House of Horrors”. The Blowfish were blanked 10-0 by the Bananas to drop to 0-4 this season at Grayson Stadium.

It was the 10th consecutive loss for Lexington County, extending the team’s longest streak since moving from Columbia in 2014, and 14th in the last 15 games.

The Blowfish (10-18, 0-4) remain the only winless West Division team and have the second-worst overall record in the CPL ahead of current second-half leader Asheboro. 

Savannah starter Carson Dorsey held Lexington County to one of its two hits and struck out eight in five innings. The Bananas (22-8, 3-3) broke the game open with four runs in the bottom of the second by first-time starter Michael Watson. 

In four games in Savannah, the Blowfish have been outscored 44-3 and shut out twice. They have lost all five meetings this season to the defending CPL champions. 

Lexington County returns home for a Sunday game against the Macon Bacon. Fireworks and a laser show are planned following the game and Monday's intrasquad exhibition.
