Food Lion will buy 4 area Bi-Lo stores.

1 is on Knox Abbott Drive and the other on Charleston Highway in Cayce.

The other 2 are in Columbia.

Other Bi-Lo stores in Lexington County will not be part of the takeover.

Employees of the Bi-Lo on US 378 west of Lexington have been told the store will be closed if a buyer cannot be found by April.

Food Lion on Tuesday announced plans to buy 62 Bi-Lo and Harveys Supermarket stores from Southeastern Grocers.

The US Federal Trade Commission has waived a required waiting period under the Hart-Scott-Rodino Antitrust Improvement Act of 1976.

ADUSA expects to hire more than 800 associates to support Food Lion’s added stores.

Food Lion is owned by Ahold Delhaize USA, a division of Netherlands-based Ahold Delhaize.

Food Lion plans to hire 4,650 employees including those who work at those Bi-Lo and Harveys Supermarket stores who apply.

Each Food Lion employs 40 to 50 people.

The stores will remain open under their Bi-Lo and Harveys Supermarket names until April.
