Good news for Carolina students.

The University of South Carolina will re-start classroom instruction Thursday, August 20.

Fall 2020 semester classes will end at Thanksgiving with no fall break.

The university is expanding its online classes for those who prefer them.

University President Bob Caslen said this meets requirements for federal financial aid and the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges.”

Nothing has been given yet about re-starting football and other sports.

Clemson University and other state colleges are considering their options.

The schedule:

• Aug. 20: Classes begin

• Sept. 7: Labor Day will be a Remote Class Day with classes online

• Oct. 15-16: No fall break. Classes will be held these days

• Nov. 3: General Election Day will be a Remote Class Day. Classes to be held online

• Nov. 24: Classroom instruction will end

• Nov. 25-29: Thanksgiving Break

• Nov. 30: Remote Class Day

• Dec. 1: Remote Class Day

• Dec. 2-4: Reading Days

• Dec. 7-14: Final Exam period
