Gaston man previously arrested for chop shop accused of possessing 800 grams of meth

A man who was arrested earlier this month for operating a Lexington County chop shop faces additional charges after more than 800 grams of methamphetamine, 21 firearms and several stolen vehicles were found during the execution of a search warrant, the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department says.

According to a release, Lexington County narcotics agents responded to the home in the 200 block of Boy Scout Road in Gaston, assisting the state Law Enforcement Division in executing a search warrant.

As a result of what was found during that search, Michael Anthony Dolan Jr., 42, is charged with trafficking methamphetamine greater than 400 grams, possession of a Schedule IV narcotic, possession of a Schedule III narcotic, possession of a weapon during a violent crime, possession of cocaine and manufacturing marijuana, according to a press release.

Dolan was previously announced as having been charged with operation of a chop shop, receiving stolen goods (value greater than $10,000) and three counts of forging a certificate of title by SLED following the execution of a search warrant on Sept. 5. The sheriff's department confirmed that the additional charges came the same day as a result of the same search.

According to the sheriff’s department release, Dolan’s arrest was a joint operation between the sheriff’s department, the Gaston Police Department and SLED.

“This is a great example of how strong relationships between agencies can make a community safer,” Lexington County Sheriff Jay Koon is quoted in the department’s release. “We worked together to get a wide array of drugs off the street.”

Per the release, Dolan was taken to the Lexington County Detention Center following his arrest. According to court records, he had bonds set on the 11 charges totaling $284,000, all of which are listed as posted.

This is a developing story and will continue to be updated.
